On the work
Studying archaeology has taught me how the past often mirrors the present and future. Reading between the lines trapped in time triggers my imagination to express lived experiences in ways that can be shared within the frameworks of historical narratives, offering passionately creative tales to tell.
As a child, five-year-old Elizabeth DeVere was often found endlessly playing with her dolls in the rock-filled backyard of her coastal Southern California home. These childhood days support her inner workings as an aspiring anthropologist/archaeologist who writes stories rooted in place, time, and the body.
The lush landscaping of her girlhood's backyard, woven with a variety of stones big and small, fueled her imaginative play. The hours spent narrating scenes between her preferred Barbie dolls, climbing the stones as rugged terrains, and geographic locales in which the scenes transpired offered Elizabeth a foundation for her gifted imagination.
Today, Elizabeth is an adult returning student earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology. Earning this degree has revealed Elizabeth's buried gift to write, inspiring her to venture into the world of online writing to support herself financially as a college student and throughout her years as a graduate student.
